Tim Krul has indirectly criticized Newcastle United boss Rafael Benitez by stating that he is finally playing under a manager who gives everyone a fair opportunity.
It was very clear to see that Newcastle United manager Rafael Benitez did not rate Tim Krul very highly and the Spaniard allowed the Dutch international to leave on loan to Brighton & Hove Albion on deadline day.
With Krul having only a year remaining on his current deal at St. James’ Park, the 29-year-old’s long career at Newcastle is all but over and he will now be looking for a fresh start at Brighton after reuniting with Chris Hughton.
Upon the completion of the deal, Krul was full of praise for Hughton and he has gone on to take a subtle dig at Benitez by stating that he is now finally glad to be playing under a manager who gives players a fair opportunity to prove themselves.
Krul said, “A manager is very important, and I know what I am going to get with Chris. He gives everybody their fair share of opportunities, and I like that about him.
“At Newcastle, he built a togetherness, which is very important in the Premier League. You also need a mentality of sticking together, and he definitely managed that really well when we won the Championship with Newcastle.”
