As reported by the Shields Gazette, Newcastle United have been handed an injury scare regarding Chancel Mbemba ahead of the clash against Swansea City.
Newcastle United headed into the international break on a positive mood following the 3-0 drubbing of West Ham United but the lack of activity during the January transfer window has once again dampened the spirits around St. James’ Park.
Nothing can now be done regarding Newcastle’s poor summer transfer window and everyone associated with the club will have to focus on the upcoming clash against Swansea City at the Liberty Stadium this weekend.
Ahead of the clash, Newcastle have been handed injury boosts with the news that the duo of Florian Lejeune and DeAndre Yedlin could be back in contention after recovering from their respective injuries but the Magpies’ faithful have been accustomed to seeing good news followed by something negative, and as reported by the Northern Echo, claims have been made that Chancel Mbemba is a doubt.

Mbemba scored in DR Congo’s 2-2 draw against Tunisia in the World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday night but the defender hobbled off the pitch on the 59th minute.
The 23-year-old will now return to Newcastle to have his injury assessed but it does look very likely that he will miss out on the encounter with Swansea.
