NUFC eye ambitious January move for unsettled PSG prospect – reports

PSG goalkeeper Alphonse Areola is reportedly eyeing a move to England and Newcastle & Crystal Palace are believed to be on alert after fears that the France U-21 international will not have a long term future with European giants.

It was no secret that Benitez was on the look out for a new number one over the summer, however he failed in his attempts to sign the likes of Pepe Reina.

Rob Elliot has done an outstanding job so far this season, but The Sun believe Benitez will go back in for a goalkeeper in January and Areola’s search for a new club looks to have alerted Newcastle.

The Chronicle confirmed our interest in the 6ft 3′ stopper over the summer, so this isn’t the first time Aerola’s name has been mentioned, and it seems he could be up for grabs soon enough, with the 24-year old fearing he will slip further down the pecking order if the club splash out on a new number one.

Elliot’s form suggests a new goalkeeper should be the last of our worries, but with Krul and Darlow’s future appearing to lie elsewhere and Freddie Woodman yet to break into the first team, Benitez could look to add to his options.

It’s been reported in The Sun (hardly a credible source!), but Benitez’s search for a goalkeeper exists and interest in Areola has been confirmed in the past – so this COULD be one to watch..
