A surprise stat has been revealed by the Premier League’s statistical experts WhoScored.com, who’ve highlighted that Newcastle’s Ayoze Perez made more tackles (7) than any other player in the Premier League this weekend during Saturday’s win over Stoke.
The number 10 role at Newcastle has been a problem position for the past year or so, but it was good to see Perez put in a slightly more action packed performance over the weekend, with this rather surprising stat highlighting what a good shift he put in:

Perez is often criticised for being too lightweight and has been guilty of putting a toe into tackles in the past, however it was great to the Spaniard get a little more stuck in on Saturday.
He needs to offer more offensively, but – for a player who was guilty of going missing last season – this stat proves that he was anything but a passenger against Stoke.
If nothing else this shows us why stats are a complete waste of time.

Rather Perez than diame or de jong as he covers a lot of ground and closes down opponents activity higher up the pitch.. Keep up this good work rate and just needs to be more solid when with the ball..
