Former Newcastle United striker Daryl Murphy is on fire, with the 34-year old forward scoring again last night for Nottingham Forest to make him the Championship’s joint top scorer so far this season.
After a year of service at St. James’ Park in England’s second tier, Newcastle allowed Daryl Murphy to leave for Nottingham Forest following our promotion to the Premier League and his £2m move to Forest has gone from strength to strength.
Not only has the Irish international scored 6 goals in 9 starts – making him the leagues joint top scorer – he has also bagged goals against both of our North-East rivals, with winner at the Stadium of Light against Sunderland and a goal at home to Middlesbrough.
Here’s his perfectly placed header which put his side on level terms with Fulham at the City Ground last night:

Murphy is an old fashioned centre forward who was a good, honest pro at Newcastle. He served us well and it’s no surprise to see him doing the business for Forest.
