Newcastle United have released the squad photo for the 2017/18 season, however there is one notable absentee. There is NO sign of out-of-favour midfield Jack Colback – suggesting the former Sunderland man has played his last game in black and white.
An ominous moment for Jack. I can’t say there’ll be many of us too disappointed to see this (notice the hint of sarcasm), with his displays over the past few seasons doing anything but impress.
Colback appeared for the U-23’s against Wolves on Monday night and has been training with the Peter Beardsley’s second string since August following an alleged fall out with Rafa Benitez.
The club made clear attempts over the summer to offload the unwanted midfielder, however saw him turn down loan offers from Wolves and Hull City, with The Chronicle having suggested that this was down to both being unsuitable locations for the 27-year old!
The likes of Massaido Haidara has been told he has no future on Tyneside, yet he is present in the team photo, emphasising reports that there’s been a real rift between Benitez and Colback in recent weeks.
