Match of the Day 2 dropped a bit of a clanger during their highlights of our 1-1 draw with Liverpool last night, with subtitles referring to Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle as “the black and white scum.”
Guy Mowbray was providing commentary on the game at St James’, however his comments were clearly not translated correctly, causing quite a stir for those watching with subtitles.
Mowbray said, ‘and for the Reds against the team in black and white, he boasts five goals in five appearances.’ when talking about Daniel Sturridge’s form against Newcastle, however this was unfortunately misquoted by subtitles, who referred to us as ‘the black and white scum’:

An ironic error considering several Newcastle fans have taken issue about how we are portrayed in the media in recent weeks!
A mistake of course, given subtitles are often generated by computers using voice recognition software, but it looks like this will give the Mackems something to laugh about. Just as well really given the season they’re having!
