In the fall out from the summer transfer window it was reported that we failed in an attempt to sign Besiktas striker Cenk Tosun on deadline-day, and it has been confirmed on several occasions since that he is a player both NUFC scouts and Rafa Benitez are keeping a close eye on.
The Besiktas striker is likely to have impressed when club scouts were confirmed to have seen him score two well taken goals in Turkey’s 2-2 draw in Finland recently, and he’s been at it once again this week, scoring two goals last night in his sides 2-1 win at Monaco in the Champions League last night.
Here’s his a clip of his two goals on Tuesday night:

Tosun scored 24 goals for the Turkish champions last term and has started this season in similar fashion, scoring 12 goals already for club and country.
Mike Ashley’s uncertain future had previously meant it was not clear if funds would be made available in January, but given Monday’s ‘for sale’ statement claimed that money would be made available to Benitez in January to put the club in the best possible position ahead of a sale, a move for Tosun could be one to watch this winter.
He isn’t likely to come cheap though. Palace and Spurs are have both been credited with an interest and the asking price being touted is in the region of £20m.
We shall see, but he certainly is a striker on fire at the moment.
