Alan Shearer shuts down Simon Jordan after his crazy comments about Mike Ashley and NUFC fans

Alan Shearer has shut down Simon Jordan brilliantly on social media after the ex-Palace owner made some unbelievable comments on Sky Sports, claiming Mike Ashley was ‘never going to be accepted’ by Newcastle fans because he was is a ‘southerner’!

Absolute nonsense from Jordan – who appeared as a guest on Sky Sports’ ‘The Debate’ – and a comment that not only sparked a furious reaction from Alan Shearer but so many other Newcastle fans online.

Here’s Simon’s baffling comments on Sky Sports last week:

“Ashley has gone in there and he was never going to be accepted because he was a southerner!”

It appears Simon has forgotten popular southerner’s to play a big role at St James’ such as Les Ferdinand, Rob Lee, Chris Hughton, Malcolm McDonald and even Matt Ritchie – a man born and raised in Portsmouth, yet arguably the most popular Newcastle United player at present!

Alan Shearer echo’d all of the above, shutting down the London-based businessman with this tweet:

There was some other spot on and pretty amusing responses too – including one from former NUFC southerner Rob Lee!:

A load of absolute codswallop from Simon Jordan – a first class twerp who probably only says these things for a reaction anyway.

Mike Ashley is disliked because of what he has done to our football club over the years, not because of where he was born.

  1. Jordan is a muppet we applauded a couple of legends at the match at half time against palace one of which was supermac Malcom macdonald a toon legend and ambassador for the club who was born in Fulham I believe. Absolute bullshit we praise anyone who gives their all no matter where their born.

  2. Jordan needs to worry about his own clubs fickle fan-base rather than lie about ours. He really is a Dylan.
Let’s see how great their fans are when they go down again. Last time they struggled to get crowds in double figures and next time will be no different.
Like most cockney wide boys he doesn’t get our support. We don’t need to be winning things to attract a massive crowd, just need players willing to try their best. For us reflected glory doesn’t exist, whereas for them it’s everything. Plastic club, plastic fans, plastic owners. Still, he keeps us amused with his ravings. Muppet.

  4. NUFC draws in and accepts all kinds – also fans – in totally different way, that any other club. I lived in the city, but I’m a Dane. The way you treat foreigners that love your club when we meet you in pubs and at games, is absolutely unique. I have a relationship with the city – but even if I did not, I would have ended up a magpie, because it is a mentality. A mentality that appeals to all walks of life – straight talking people, and pretty much a culture that will harden in the face of adversity every time it shows up. Shearer embodies a lot of it that. In a world full of bullshit, he just stays Alan. I don’t have a lot of heroes – Shearer would be one. It’s a very special thing, felling like a toon, even though you did not grow up in the area. If the club is sold, I hope that mentality continues. It would break my heart if NUFC ended up where Man U are, or Liverpool for that matter. They lost their identity – I mean look at that derby recently. A passionless disgrace.

  5. Ashley may have put our club in a good finacial position but his ideology is not that of a football fan but a business man.
We wanted him out because he lacks ambition. Rob Lee and Malcom Mcdonald have I believe made the North East their home so we don’t hate Londoners.

No idea about football, in general.
