VIDEO: Sammy Ameobi’s 25-yard strike at Sunderland last night – a goal that got Simon Grayson SACKED!

Sunderland really are the gift that keeps on giving this season and none other than former Mag Sammy Ameobi was the man who helped pile more misery on the Mackems last night – scoring a stunning strike that saw Simon Grayson SACKED by Sunderland.

Sammy saw his contract expire on Tyneside over the summer and secured a return to newly-promoted Championship side Bolton.

As it turns out, they’ve been the only side in the second tier that have struggled more than Sunderland this season, with last night’s clash at the SoL being a battle between bottom and second bottom – and a game Simon Grayson had to win to save his job.

Half an hour into the game, Sammy Ameobi scored this 25-yard piledriver to pile more misery onto the Mackems – a goal that was met with much amusement from many NUFC fans, seeing yet another Ameobi come back to haunt our local rivals:

Shocking defending from Sunderland, but another impressive long range strike from Sammy nonetheless – being his third goal in four games for Bolton!

This goal sparked the game into life, creating a rare goal-fest at the Stadium of Light. Sunderland equalised before half time and took the lead in the second half, but less than minutes later they were behind, with a goals from Gateshead born Gary Madine and Karl Henry giving Bolton a 2-3 lead.

It ended all square at 3-3 in the end, with Sunderland coming back from a losing position on two occasions, however a draw at home to bottom of the league Bolton was hardly the result our League One-bound neighbours needed and ultimately lost Simon Grayson his job.

He was sacked less than 15 minutes after the full-time whistle – proving once and for all that ‘Mackem-slaying’ really does run in the family for the Ameobi’s!
