Ex-NUFC duo now joint favourites to land West Brom job – & their first game in charge could be against us!

After West Brom sacked Tony Pulis on Monday, it has now emerged that former NUFC duo Alan Pardew and Sam Allardyce are the two favourites to land the vacant managers job at at the Hawthorns.

The Birmingham Mail have confirmed this afternoon that Pardew is ‘keen’ on the job, whilst Allardyce is also believed to be the other name high on their list in their bid to secure a manager with ‘Premier League experience’.

Not only would the appointment of either mean a return to management for one of the former NUFC bosses, but their first game in charge would likely be against us – with Rafa Benitez and the boys set to take on West Brom at The Hawthorns a week today!

West Brom have put Gary Megson in charge of first-team affairs until a new manager is appointed. He is expected to take charge in their trip to take on Spurs at Wembley this weekend, but it looks like a new man might be in place for our visit to The Hawthorns next Tuesday.

Not only is next week’s game a big one for us to extend the gap from a potential relegation rival, the manager in the opposing dugout to Benitez could be one with substantial history with Newcastle United – Alan Pardew or Big Sam.

Ideally any new boss won’t be in place by then – with teams often gaining some new-found momentum when a manager makes his home debut – however it’s looking more and more likely that they’ll have someone in by then.

It seems Baggies fans aren’t too keen on the idea of either ex-NUFC boss mind..
