Nile Ranger in trouble once again just 3 months after his release from prison

Former NUFC striker Nile Ranger is back in trouble once again, with Southend manager Phil Brown admitting that he missed his side’s 1-1 draw at MK Dons last night due to a “disciplinary procedure”.

The 26-year old striker spent 10 weeks in prison over the summer for online fraud – a ‘player’ whose career has been plagued by more incidents off the pitch than goals on it.

He was released from Pentonville Prison in August and has since played 13 times for Southend, scoring once, but he’s not stayed out of the bad books for long, with Brown admitting the following to the Southend Echo following his sudden absence:

“Nile isn’t involved because of a disciplinary procedure yesterday.

“It’s not for public consumption what’s happened but it’s just down to discipline and we’ll leave it at that.”

Here’s what Ranger had to say on the matter:

It may seem minor compared to his past offences, but for someone somehow on thousands of pounds a week, it highlights just how unprofessional the lad is.

Since his spell on Tyneside, Ranger has endured spells at Barnsley, Sheffield Wednesday, Swindon and Blackpool before being offered yet another chance by Southend.

He continues to let himself down however, with this latest incident not only following his recent stint in prison, but a one-month suspension that he was handed by Southend for another breach of club discipline last season.

  1. Chris:
Feel sorry for the kid. Had opportunity and squandered it, and continues to do so.

    Feel sorry for him?!

He’s being paid thousands a week and has been suspended, fined, arrested and put in prison more than he has put the ball in the back of the net!

He’s had more chances than he deserves in my opinion
