Benitez speaks out about an NUFC takeover for the first time following Amanda Staveley’s bid

Speaking in today’s pre-match press conference ahead of tomorrow’s visit of Watford, Rafa Benitez has spoken out about the takeover speculation, admitting that he is fully aware of the news, but remaining adamant that it does not affect him or any of his players – even if bids are submitted or rejected.

News of Staveley’s bid broke on Monday this week, with several reports claiming it came in just below the £300m mark.

That bid appears to have been swiftly rejected, however talks seem to have continued, leaving us all to patentialy await a potential improved bid from Staveley and her PCP group.

The news has made for a week filled with hope and fear for fellow supporters, but Benitez seems intent on ignoring the speculation, stating here that nor him or his players are letting it affect them ahead of tomorrow’s big game:

“I am watching the news & I see it, but I have no more information. I just prepare the team in the training sessions for the games”

“The players don’t talk about the takeover. I was speaking with 3 players earlier & we were taking about the Europa League & other things, not that. \We don’t discuss that, we focus on getting ready for our games”

“What has been done or if it’s been rejected doesn’t affect us.”

A strong message once again from Rafa, who is quite rightfully keen to brush aside all the talk ahead of what is a big game for the club tomorrow.
