TWO more ex-NUFC managers land Premier League jobs after West Brom appoint Alan Pardew

If you thought West Brom appointing Alan Pardew was bad enough then buckle up, with Sky Sports confirming that John Carver will be his assistant at The Hawthorns, whilst fellow ex-NUFC boss Sam Allardyce looks set to be appointed as Everton manager.

Quite incredible really. Three former Newcastle United managers all set to have landed Premier League jobs within the space of 24 hours. I’m sat here scratching my head. How have all three landed such jobs on recent form?

Starting with Allardyce, it’s easy to see why Everton have turned to him, with relegation fears becoming a very real fear for a club that thought they were finishing a minimum of 7th in the summer. He’ll keep them up, but, considering so many were envious of their free-spending summer, they haven’t half messed up over the past few months.

Then to the even more amusing news. John Carver and Alan Pardew are back together with West Brom – proving once and for all that stale ex-Premier League bosses are somehow still the order of the day for struggling clubs these days.

A bit like Pardew, John had served Newcastle quite well up until a point, but, like Pardew, he had a tendency to shoot himself in the foot. His comment about him being the ‘best manager in the Premier League’ didn’t help when he’d taken 9 points from a possible 48 at NUFC..

Let’s see how they get on in their new roles at West Brom and Everton..
