Benitez hoping to pull off Premier League double deal IF Staveley’s takeover bid is successful – Report

According to the Express, Rafa Benitez is expected to be given the go ahead for a January spending in the next 48 hours should a takeover move significantly closer, with the NUFC boss said to be eyeing a deal to bring in Liverpool’s Dany Ings and Manchester Utd’s Luke Shaw on loan.

As reported yesterday by several outlets, Ashley is expected to fund any January activity on the basis that he will be refunded by Stavelely & PCP’s once they are officially in place at the club.

Staveley’s takeover deal may be edging closer, but the Premier League take 30-40 days to ratify new owners, meaning she is unlikely to be in place until the end of the January window at best – meaning the above seems like a sensible action plan from both parties.

Loan deals for Ings and Shaw would be smart, however there will be real competition, with both likely to attract real interest from several other interested parties.

Fans tend not to like loan deals (I get that), but the pair will be hungry to reignite their Premier League careers after long spells out and would both improve our starting 11.

I’ve heard a few fellow Newcastle fans say they want better than Ings. It’s understandable given our desperate position, but with that and our real lack of quality in mind, I think he’d be an upgrade on what we have and someone who’d give us another option. He’d not be the answer, but he’d be a start.
