Exclusive claims NUFC, Everton, West Ham & Southampton are all in the running to sign Arsenal attacker

According to an exclusive in the Express last night, Newcastle have joined Everton, West Ham and Southampton in the queue to sign want-away Arsenal forward Theo Walcott on loan this month.

The 28-year old is yet to start a league game this season, having made just four substitute appearances – with all eight of his starts coming in the Cup or Europa League thus far.

He looks set to be handed a Premier League lifeline this summer and our name has been thrown into the mix according to this ‘exclusive’, although Southampton are being described as the early favourites to seal a reunion.

Whilst we look his most unlikely destination out of the four sides mentioned here, a loan-deal could lend itself to us financially, with it looking increasingly likely that Benitez will be working on a budget for a second consecutive window since our promotion.

Then again, his alleged £120,000 wage packet could be a big problem – not that I’m buying into this rumours to any great degree in the first place.

Walcott would no doubt give us something different out wide, carrying the sort of goal threat not many of our wingers do, but he’s a bit of a luxury player and not one I’d expect to fit into Benitez’s strict system too well.

I doubt this one on several levels, but you never know. Benitez will be eyeing loan deals from top 6 clubs and Walcott may just be on his wish-list?
