After being released from prison over the summer, ex-NUFC ‘forward’ Nile Ranger has shot himself in the foot yet again, with Southend confirming this week that they’ve been forced to terminate his contract due to ‘reoccurring disciplinary issues’.
The 26-year old was released from Pentonville Prison in August for bank fraud and looked like he might just be getting his playing career back on track with 20 appearances for Southend this season.
This wasn’t to be the case for long however, with the forward now without a club after yet another sacking. Here’s the full statement released by Southend this week:
“Following a meeting yesterday with Nile Ranger the Club has today terminated the player’s contract in accordance with the terms of the agreement. This decision was taken following reoccurring disciplinary issues, including timekeeping, which undermine both the unity of the group and the management.
“In many ways it is regrettable having worked closely with Nile over the past 18 months. However, the interests of the Club are paramount and the Board will never allow those objectives to be undermined.”
He’s been given countless chances over the years but continues to show his employers no respect. He’s now had his contract scrapped early at the last FOUR clubs he’s been at permanently. I suspect this might be his last.
Here’s some interesting reactions from NUFC fans to Ranger’s latest mistake:
Maybe it would make more sense if ALL clubs just refused to sign Nile Ranger. Then he can focus totally on his first love, crime and hopefully be taken off the streets on a long term basis. Waste of a set of lungs that *****.

Nile Ranger had the talent and ability to be a really good player. Looked as good as Carroll, and sometimes better. Completely thrown it all away though. What a fool.

When I was younger I was desperate to be a professional footballer. I would have done anything to be a pro much like thousands of people around the world. Then you see Nile Ranger take his gift for granted ??♂️

I don’t even understand what goes through Nile Ranger’s head. How can you keep doing madness every season after all the opportunities given to you? There has to be at least 1 person that can talk to him & make him see sense. Lost soul.
