Ex-NUFC striker admits why he has reason to believe Amanda Staveley’s takeover WILL happen at NUFC

Last week, former Newcastle striker Mick Quinn claimed that the NUFC takeover was moving closer from what he’d been told, with the 55-year-old taking to Twitter to share what he’d been told on the deal.

Nothing has happened since, suggesting Mick’s claims were premature, however the ex-NUFC striker has shed light on his claims last week, revealing how we was told by ‘well-placed’ sources that a takeover was ‘close’.

Here’s what he’s said to the Chronicle on the matter this week:

“I had been informed by three well-placed sources, both in the North East and down in London, that the takeover was close. I was so excited I wanted to share it with fans.

“Unfortunately that hasn’t materialised into something concrete, and I can only apologise for that. It was never my intention to cause any frustration if I did.

“I would never intentionally wind up Newcastle fans – not given all they have been put through by this owner. I was given some information I thought was reliable, but the suggestion that the takeover deal was just about done appears to have been hasty.”

Here’s the tweets Mick put out last week, making several NUFC fans wonder if a deal between Staveley and Ashley was finally nearing its conclusion:

Up until now there’s been no breakthrough, but Mick just might know a few people in the know around the deal.

It’s nothing short of fanciful to think so, but hopefully what he was told proves to be true in the coming weeks!
