Source close to Mike Ashley speaks out to Sky – suggests why Staveley takeover is now off at NUFC

Following news tonight that Mike Ashley has pulled the plug on Amanda Staveley and PCP’s potential takeover, a statement from sources close to Ashley have offered a brief explanation as to why the deal is now off.

Here’s what ‘sources close’ to the NUFC owner have told Sky Sports tonight following the collapse of the deal:

“It is only right to let the fans know there is no deal on the table or even under discussion with Amanda Staveley and PCP.

“Attempts to reach a deal with PCP have proved exhausting, frustrating and a complete waste of time.”

Ironic to hear the words ‘EXHAUSTING, FRUSTRATING and a complete WASTE OF TIME’ be used to describe negotiations with Staveley and PCP. It sounds to me very much like the life of an NUFC fan under Ashley’s torturous 10-year reign at the club.

According to Sky, the relegation compensation clause set by Staveley and co. was understood to be a sticking point at one stage in negotiations and although it was suggested not long ago that progress was being made on the deal, it is now evident that this ‘progress’ never materialised to anything acceptable from Ashley’s perspective.

A crushing blow for our beloved club.

  1. Here we go again Mike Ashley has screwed us again. Perhaps it’s retribution time lets hurt him in his pocket. Picket all his stores and and play all our remaining games with a empty stadium. Real’y feel sorrry for Raffa and the team but enough is enough.

  3. I have said for the last four years that he won’t sell up. He hates everything about Newcastle and will eventually destroy the club. He’s taken everything he can from the first day of ownership. He knows what he’s doing and can afford to do it. He could close the club down and sell the land to buy houses on if he wants. I don’t understand why we expected anything different to happen with this so called takeover? If Rafa leaves then the toon fans need to man up and boycott every game till he sells up or closes the club down then we can start again in the northern premier league. Anything has to be better than this fat **** pulling the strings. Mk dons did it so why not Newcastle. We have to stop dreaming about life after this ****** and make it happen. Hit him where it hurts week in week out
