Sky Sports: Alan Pardew identifies NUFC man as West Brom’s ‘number one transfer target’

Some interesting claims from Sky Sports, who state that West Brom’s Alan Pardew has made the signing of Aleksandar Mitrovic his ‘number one priority’ over the remainder of the January transfer window.

According to ‘Sky sources‘, West Brom want to bring in another striker this month, and Pardew has ‘prioritised’ a move for Mitrovic – although they claim that any move is is dependant on funds being raised from the potential sale of defender Jonny Evans.

It was reported last week that we’d rejected a staggering 22 loan offers for Mitrovic, with us instead preferring to cash in on the Serbian, with an asking price of £14-15m being suggested by the Chronicle recently. Could the ex-NUFC boss be ready to pay this if the sale of Jonny Evans goes through?

Having not started a Premier League game all season, his future at Newcastle looks bleak and it may be fair for all parties to have him moved on this month – however Rafa may only let him go if a replacement is found.

It may be a bitter pill to swallow if Alan Pardew of all people got the best out of him, but it’s become clear over the past 18 months that Mitro and Rafa do not see eye to eye.
