BREAKING: NUFC make club record move for ‘striker’ – Chronicle claim double deal could happen this week

Some *potentially* exciting news on the transfer front as the Chronicle have confirmed in the last few moments that the club have made their move for a striker which would break our current £16m transfer record – with them also revealing that a move for Kenedy could be concluded this week as Chelsea move closer to sealing his replacement.

Starting with the striker bid, it is not stated who the club have made a move for, however this may be a good thing. Most of the deals that come off for us are the ones that are not explicitly reported on by the media (which can alert other clubs).

What is stated is that the fee involved would be ABOVE our current club transfer record of £16m, with us understood to be in talks as we speak to pull that deal off.

Here’s what the Chronicle’s Lee Ryder had to say on the mystery striker bid:

“We understand that negotiations are underway for a new front man and it is believed that the selling club will expect Newcastle to break their current transfer fee of £16million IF the Magpies can pull it off.”

A £2m loan bid was mooted for Everton’s Sandro Ramirez over the weekend and the Chronicle state that NUFC have ‘refused to dismiss’ a loan move for him, however this appears to be a bid for a permanent deal.

The Telegraph have also backed up these claims from the Chronicle, confirming a bid has been placed and a deal for Kenedy is moving closer.:

“Newcastle have bid for a striker in the last few days and are increasingly confident Chelsea winger Kenedy will arrive on loan before the end of the month.”

As mentioned above, Kenedy now looks one step closer to a loan move to Newcastle after a tedious wait to see that one be given the go ahead.

It’s been widely reported that Chelsea would only let him leave once a replacement arrived, but with news today that Roma wing-back Emerson Palmieri has flown to London to complete a move, Kenedy’s move looks close to being sanctioned by Antonio Conte.

Rafa confirmed on Saturday that he’d been given the ‘green light’ by Ashley to make signings and highlighted what an important week it was for NUFC to get deals done.

As ever, I’ll only feel 100% confident when the player is holding up the black and white shirt, but it’s all sounding much more promising on the transfer front than it was this time last week.

Who do you think the mystery striker could be folks?
