Yesterday saw Daniel Sturridge and Nicolai Jorgensen crossed off the list of potential striker signings, and today it’s looking more and more like Leicester City pair Islam Slimani and Kelechi Iheanacho won’t be coming to Newcastle either.
Starting with Slimani, it’s been said on several occasions this month that he’s been a target of Rafa Benitez’s, however Sky sources have revealed this afternoon that we saw a loan move for the Algerian rebuffed last night, with Leicester not wanting him to go out on loan to another Premier League side:

Maybe a deal can be resurrected for Slimani if a loan with an option to buy is offered, however it’s another deal that’s looking unlikely, with Monaco in talks to get him until the end of the season.
Regarding Kelechi Iheanacho, the Leicester Mercury (which is their version of the Chronicle), state that the Nigerian has decided to stay put and fight for his place in Claude Puel’s side, despite claims that he would push for a loan move to gain regular first team football.
With just two starts in the league all season, I had hoped the 21-year-old could’v been a loan option for us in the closing stages, however that no longer seems likely.
Where do we turn from here? Good question. Deeney? Sandro Ramirez? Schurle? Fewkin Ney-won?
