NUFC fans not happy as Jack Colback uses unbelievable excuse to ‘turn down’ Championship club

According to the Guardian today, Jack Colback has rejected a deadline day move to Championship side Hully City as it’s ‘too far down south’ for the Geordie midfielder.

Colback hasn’t made a single matchday squad all season, with Rafa Benitez banishing the 28-year-old to the reserves – also denying him a place in the club’s squad photo last year.

With this and his £40,000 wages in mind, the club are clearly looking to move him on today, however the Guardian have revealed that he’s not willing to sign for Hull for ‘geographical reasons’ – with him alleged to have said it’s ‘too far down south’ (despite it being in the top half of Yorkshire..).

Now, one thing I will say is this. While it’s a little cheeky of him to sit on £40,000 a week and do sod all behind the scenes, it was the club that offered him this length of contract and these fairly heft wages. We might not appreciate it, but he technically has the right to turn down moves if he prefers to see out his contract and get paid to do very little up here.

That being said, he’s doing very little for his career in sitting on the sidelines and taking his pay packet, opposed to playing week in week out for a Championship side like he should be.

Lee Ryder has since confirmed that NUFC are keen to get him off the wage bill, with Nottingham Forest the latest club to be offered him. Don’t hold your breath though, he’ll think that’s in France if he reckons Hull is ‘down south’:

  1. Hull is not in the top half of Yorkshire at all, If anything it’s in south-east Yorkshire.

I live near Lincoln and Hull is only 50 odd miles from me.

    Just saying.

PS. Colback is still a **** though.

  2. They gave him the contract, and now when it doesn’t suit them they try and force him out..I wouldn’t go to Hull either..
If the club want rid they should offer him a settlement to leave, smacks of the Mackems and Jack Rodwell.

  3. You can’t blame the player for his money he’s getting payed, that’s the contract the club agreed these clubs need to bring in a clause when they sign these players you get dropped to the reserves your wages are halved till you earn your place back in the first team or sold on, not rocket science is it!
