There was some euphoric scenes around St James’ Park following yesterday’s huge 1-0 win over Mourinho’s Man Utd, however there was a brilliant moment we picked that you may have missed during the post-match celebrations.
As Rafa Benitez entered the pitch to applaud the fans alongside Paul Dummett, Jonjo Shelvey, Jamaal Lascelles and DeAndre Yedlin (see video below), a chorus of ‘RAFA RAFAEL’ whipped up from the Gallowgate.
In typical Benitez fashion, he pointed towards his four players in front of him, as if to say ‘thank them, not me’. A lovely touch from a man that just oozes class.

Another touch of class from the Spaniard, who clearly recognised (as most did) that his win was down to the grit, determination and spirit of our players.
An incredible effort and on a day that made us proud to be fans of Newcastle United.
Replicate that sort of performance a few more times between now and the end of the season and we’ll be a Premier League club come the end of May.
HWTL!
