Incredible stats reveal NUFC’s most influential player this season

NUFC stat man Chris Holt has been at it again on Twitter, with his latest set of statistics showing what an incredible effect Jamaal Lascelles has had on our results this season – with us taking 27 points when across the 18 games he’s played and just 1 point in the 9 he’s missed!

The skipper has been a revelation this season, not only performing on the pitch but leading by example off it. Some say he talks too much, but he wears the badge with pride, stands up for what’s right and almost always backs up his words with actions on the field.

He looks destined to win our player of the season this year and these stats below by Chris Holt show just why he’s without doubt our most influential player at present:

  • We’ve won 27 points in the 18 games he’s played, taking just 1 point in the other 9 games when he’s been injured.
  • We’ve conceded less in the 18 games he’s played (17) than we did in the 9 games he’s missed this season (19).
  • With 3 league goals this season, he’s our 2nd top scorer. Only Joselu has more in the league (4 goals)
  • His 3 goals have been influential, turning potential  draws against Swansea and Stoke into wins, with his goal against Burnley also earning us a point in the end (meaning we would’ve had 5 points less without his 3 goals).

He’s been incredible this season. His consistency (when fit) has been phenomenal, being a reliable presence at the back week in week out despite his lack of Premier League experience.

Not only has he put in commanding performances week in week out, he’s lead by example, scored vital goals and got the best out of new signing Florian Lejeune – who looks so much better alongside the skipper.

Given how England internationals Phil Jones and Chris Smalling looked in comparison to Lascelles on Sunday, Gareth Southgate might be missing a trick not putting him on that plane this summer!

  1. We’ve conceded less in the 18 hames he’s played (17) than we did in the 9 games he’s missed this season (19).
We concede an average of 0.9 goals per game when he plays and a whopping 2.8 goals per game when he doesn’t

Not sure about the maths here mate!
