Former NUFC midfielder linked with a stunning move to Bayern Munich – incredible price discussed

Reports in Germany claim that Bayern Munich have lined up former NUFC winger Florian Thauvin as a potential replacement for Arjen Robben this summer – only for the Marseille president to suggest it would take more than 150 million euros to sign him!

Thauvin’s rise to stardom since ending his St James’ Park nightmare has been nothing short of sensational, with his 15 goals and 15 assists this season now catching the eye of German giants Bayern Munich and several other elite clubs around Europe.

With Arjen Robben set to leave the club in the summer, Bayern are believed to have identified Thauvin as his replacement, however Marseille’s president has hit back emphatically, saying he wouldn’t even sell the Frenchman for 150m euros:

“He is not for sale. Not for 100 and not for 150 million.”

Quite incredible given we sold him back to Marseille for just under £10m last summer..

After arriving on Tyneside for £12m in the summer of 2015, Thauvin scored just once in 16 appearances for the club and never looked settled. And he clearly wasn’t.

I firmly believed he never wanted to play for us and always wanted to stay at Marseille, and that reflects his performances for both.

Some say we didn’t give him a chance, but for me he was never in the right mindset at Newcastle to perform anywhere near like he has since his return to France.

  1. He haf the wrong attitude from day 1, turning up.in a tuxedo and falling over every 2 minutes. This is a tough league. The French league is not at the same standard. The pressure will get to him if he plays for a big club in a big league.

  2. You would have thought they would have inserted a sell on clause given we sold him as a favour to him and marseille
