SIX senior players NUFC will offload in the summer – regardless of what league we’re in

There’s a lot that’ll be decided between now and the summer, with Premier League safety, a takeover and Benitez’s future high on the agenda, however there be some certain changes to the NUFC squad in a few months time – regardless of what league we find ourselves in.

Here’s SIX players I am fully expecting to leave the club over the summer:

Jesus Gamez

The Spaniard seemed a decent coup when he arrived from Atletico Madrid two years ago, however he’s featured just 10 times for us since then, making just one start  in the league this season and regularly failing to make the squad.

Injury problems have been a constant issue, but his contract expires this summer and it’s safe to say he won’t be handed a new deal.

Elliot or Darlow

It’s been clear as day over the last 12 months that Benitez wanted his owner number one in place – meaning the pair are unlikely to be much more than second choice in years to come.

He may have that in Dubravka, but either way I am almost certain one of Rob Elliot or Karl Darlow will leave over the summer. Rafa wants his own man in goal and rates Woodman highly, so Elliot/Darlow could well secure Championship moves. Rightly so too. They’re decent keepers at that level and will want first team football above all else.

Massaido Haidara

He’s had a terrible time with injuries over the last few years, however he did little to impress in a rare first team appearance in the 3-0 away defeat at Chelsea last month.

The Frenchman is out of contract this summer and, like Gamez, it feels like there’s absolutely no chance of him getting a new deal.

Jack Colback

Not only has he scuppered his relationship with Rafa, I can’t see fans taking him back under their wing after turning against the gaffer in recent months.

He’s a Championship player and could well secure a permanent deal to join Nottingham Forest in the summer if he impresses during his loan spell.

Henri Saivet

He’s probably not been given a fair chance, but with Shelvey, Diame, Merino and Hayden all ahead of him in the pecking order, I can’t see a world where he returns from his loan spell in Turkey and starts playing.

It’s looking like being best for all parties that he finds a permanent move away in the summer.

Chancel Mbemba

Now, this is one that I’m not as certain on, however I’m quite sure the Congolese defender will be plying his trade elsewhere next season if Rafa Benitez’s is still Newcastle’s manager.

For whatever reasons, Rafa doesn’t fancy him. He’s a talented young player though and will be wanting to move elsewhere in order to get his career back on track. A big part of me would be said to see him go, but you couldn’t blame him if he did given his current lack of involvement at NUFC. A player of his capability can’t be sitting on the bench each week.

Let us know your thoughts folks – is there anyone hear you can’t see leaving in the summer?
