Jamaal Lascelles names TWO reasons why we WILL stay up in strong interview from the skipper

Jamaal Lascelles believes we are currently playing ‘really good football’ and have the ‘personality and character’ to come out the relegation scrap on top – predicting that we will be ‘more than safe’ come the end of the season with just 10 games to go.

With just 10 minutes to go on Saturday we were 10th in the table and 5 points clear of the drop zone, only for Bournemouth to pull two back and Southampton score a late equaliser away to Burnley.

The 2-2 draw brought us back into 15th place and just TWO points from the relegation places, however Jamaal Lascelles believes that things are still going very well, predicting that we will beat the drop despite our precarious league position:

“Since the manager has been here, the club has been on the rise and the city has been really upbeat,”

“Things have been really going well so we are going to try and keep it that way. At the minute we are playing really good football.

“We wish we were in a better position than we are but there are still 10 games left and the way we are playing I think we are going to be more than safe.

The Skipper then admitted that we will not focus on other teams and instead will continue to play the ‘good football’ he feels we have been delivering, feeling we are

“It is really tight. There are a lot of teams in it and it is a tough league. It has probably not kicked off as much as it normally does, it is normally one or two teams that have gone already.

“We can’t focus on other teams. We have got to make sure that we take the games step by step and prepare things the right way.

“We are playing good football, now it comes down to personality and character.”

Providing we can keep our heads and show the fight and spirit the captain talks about here, I have faith that Benitez and the boys will do enough to keep us up. Do you?
