NUFC tipped to sign highly-rated 22-year-old – “He’s the complete midfielder they are lacking”

French football expert Nathan Staples of GFFN believes recently linked Marseille midfielder Andre Zambo Anguissa is the ‘complete midfielder’ Newcastle are currently lacking, revealing why the 22-year-old would be a big hit on Tyneside if he arrived this summer.

It was reported in France last week that we were ‘closely monitoring’ the central midfielder, with ourselves, West Ham, Watford and West Brom all linked with a summer move for the Cameroon international whose been impressing in Ligue 1 this season..

He has been a big part of Marseille’s return to the top in France, with them being just two points behind 2nd place Monaco, and was the one OM player to emerge with credit in their 3-0 defeat at PSG on Sunday.

Here’s what GFFN’s Nathan Staples has had to say about the midfielder when speaking to the Chronicle about his potential move to Newcastle:

“With the caveat that Newcastle stay in the Premier League, I think he’ll finally add a complete midfielder that the Magpies are lacking.

“A lot of their current crop are one-dimensional or wildly inconsistent, whereas Zambo Anguissa is a step up from that and would be comfortable in a two or three-man midfield.”

Staples then explained what sort of player the Cameroonian is, describing him as a ‘jack-of-all-trades’ in the middle and a player he feels we could really benefit from:

“Zambo Anguissa is a box-to-box style midfield that excels in breaking up play and starting attacks.

“He’s quick in the challenge, able to apply a high press and get stuck in while also combining great close-ball control with a range of passing that allows him to be a kind of jack-of-all-trades that you need in the middle of the park.”

Another one to watch this summer perhaps..
