New claims emerge from the capital on Kenedy’s potential move from Chelsea to Newcastle

According to the London Evening Standard, Rafa Benitez wants to sign Kenedy on a permanent basis this summer and is already planning talks with Chelsea at the end of the season.

Interestingly, the Standard state that Chelsea actually rejected our request to include an option to buy the Brazilian in the summer, suggesting those on Stamford Bridge still believe he could have a future at the club.

The report also reveals that Chelsea would want to make a ‘significant profit’ on the £6.3m paid for the 22-year-old back in 2015, with claims over the weekend that he could even demand a fee of £20m following his impressive performances for NUFC so far.

It’s worth mentioning that Chelsea are expected to part with Antonio Conte at the end of the season, meaning their new boss would more than likely want a good look at Kenedy over the summer before any permanent deal with us could be discussed.

There’s a lot to be decided on Tyneside before we even consider summer signings, with Premier League safety, a takeover and Rafa’s future all up in the air, however Kenedy looks a real talent and someone who may just unleash his potential at St James’ Park.

  1. He looks a player, but it is early days yet….
Also not doubting your article but we know Rafa has been interested for a long time, and with Ashley’s refusal to spend any money the loan deal seemed sense…

Yeh very true – it’s one thing getting him on loan but another expecting Ashley to pay up! He’ll cost north of £15m easily..
