Rafa Benitez will reignite his interest in Besiktas’ Tolgay Arslan in the summer according to talkSPORT, with it being claimed that the club made an unsuccessful attempt to sign the midfielder in January.
This follows last week’s reports from Turkey that stated Newcastle scouts had been sent to watch the 27-year-old in action for Besiktas – a club NUFC officials will be particularly familiar with following several scouting trips to watch former striker target Cenk Tosun.
Besiktas are 2nd in the Turkish Super Lig and recently enjoyed an impressive run to the last 16 of the Champions League, with midfielder Arslan appearing to have picked up several admirers in the process.
TalkSPORT claim that ourselves, Chelsea, Bayern Leverkursen and Borussia Dortmund are all tracking the diminutive central-midfielder, so it seems we may have to act quickly if we wish to beat off any competition that may exist come the summer.
There could well be some truth in this, with this not being the first time his name has been mentioned. Perhaps one to watch in the summer should we beat the drop..
