The Chronicle have revealed that both Jesus Gamez and Massaido Haidara will leave the club this summer, with the pair having been told they will NOT receive new contracts at the end of the season.
The defensive duo see their contracts run out at the end of the season, but with them making a combined total of just three starts all season (1 in the league), it’s easy to see why they will not be offered new deals.
Haidara arrived as a promising young-left back several years ago during the Graham Carr era, whilst Gamez was at the other end of the spectrum, being an experienced campaigner brought in by Benitez to do a job in the Championship.
Neither have ever enjoyed a real run in the team, with injuries appearing to have been their biggest downfall during their spells at St James’ Park.
The Chronicle have confirmed that no negotiations have taken place with either over a potential new deal, with Rafa clearly happy to let both go o free up space in the squad and money off the wage bill.
I can’t say either have been good servants, but we wish both the best of luck securing their next move this summer.
