Newcastle United are one of a number of Premier League clubs ready to make a move for Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting should Stoke get relegated, according to the Gambling Times.
The 6ft 3′ Cameroonian international joined the Potters on a free transfer last summer after spending three years in Germany with Schalke, and he’s impressed during his debut season in England..
He can play up top, off the front or out wide and has bagged 5 goals and 5 assists for the Premier League’s second bottom side – and it looks like several sides are already eyeing his signature if and when Stoke go down this summer.
Here’s a snippet from Graeme Bailey’s exclusive for the Gambling Times today:
“Choupo-Moting, 29, who only joined on a free transfer from Schalke last summer – has impressed hugely for Stoke – despite their struggles, and a number of Premier League rivals are keen on landing him, impressed with how he has performed in his debut campaign in England.
“West Ham, Everton, Newcastle, Leicester and Watford are amongst those keen on the Cameroonian forward.”

Not one I’d be rushing to sign this summer, but he’s often looked useful whenever I’ve watched Stoke this season – even if his goal-record of 61 strikes in 316 games is far from prolific.
He’d be a handy option to have, being capable of playing in several positions at the top end of the pitch, but I think we can do much better this summer.
