Benitez makes £20m-rated Bournemouth star one of his ‘top summer targets’ – Report

With Rafa Benitez on the lookout for a new striker this summer, it’s claimed that he’s made£20m-rated Bournemouth star Joshua King one of his number one targets.

The report claims that Rafa will make a move for King one of his ‘priorities’ if he gets the go ahead from Mike Ashley to invest in new players.

This is from the Sun, so a pinch of salt is always needed (as with most transfer rumours), however it’s worth noting that this is not the first time Joshua King has been described as one of Rafa’s ‘top targets’.

Last May, the Northern Echo described the 26-year-old as the Spaniard’s ‘number one attacking target’– although, nothing came of it, with the Cherries having no intention to sell the man who bagged an impressive 16 Premier League goals last season (a tally that was only bettered by Lukaku, Kane, Sanchez, Costa, Aguero, Ibrahimovic and Alli in the 2016/17 season)

This season he hasn’t been quite as prolific, with 7 goals and 3 assists to his name, however he does possess pace, power and versatility in attack, with him being able to operate up top, off the striker or out wide.

Whilst he’s generally started, he’s been left competing with Callum Wilson, Jermaine Defoe, Lys Mousset on the South-Coast, and the Sun claim he ‘could be tempted to leave the Cherries’ this summer if a tempting offer arrived.

What do you reckon folks? It’s all hypothetical at this stage, but with him linked last summer and a player whose proven what he can do in the top flight, is this someone you’d like to see Rafa sign?
