BREAKING: Islam Slimani’s NUFC career is over – Leicester loanee charged by FA for violent conduct

Islam Slimani’s career at Newcastle United is over before it even began, with confirmation in the last few moments that the Leicester loanee has been charged with violent conduct by the FA after his kick on West Brom’s Craig Dawson on Saturday.

He has until 6pm tomorrow to respond, but the Algerian looks almost certain to face a three-match ban, meaning he will miss all of our remaining fixtures against Watford, Spurs and Chelsea.

This brings an end to his unsuccessful loan spell at Newcastle United – with him having started just once and feature from the bench on three occasions.

He arrived on deadline day with a thigh injury – something which seemed to be just a minor concern at the time – however it was an injury that ended up keeping him out for two months.

He made an impact from the bench against Huddersfield and Arsenal – playing a huge part in Ritchie’s winner against the Gunners – but he failed to impress during his one and only start at Everton.

Many were surprised not to see him start against West Brom, and he would’ve been frustrated to miss out too, but his moment of madness from the bench was inexcusable – especially when he was meant to be giving his all to earn a permanent move this summer!

I was excited to see him sign on deadline day, with him being a striker with a point to prove (and one Leicester paid £29m for just two years ago!), but his brief time on Tyneside couldn’t have gone much worse.

It’s fair to say Rafa won’t be going back for him this summer!
