Ex-NUFC star linked with summer return to St James’ Park after Sky confirm ‘furious bust up’

Sky Sports have confirmed today that Andy Carroll’s future at West Ham is hanging in the balance after a training ground ‘bust up’ with David Moyes – fuelling yet more rumours that he could make a long-awaited return to Newcastle United this summer.

After failing to be brought on during West Ham’s 4-1 defeat on Sunday, Carroll was pictured walking away from the substitutes bench before the final whistle – leaving Moyes furious and set to ‘deal with him’ in training on Monday.

Sky have since confirmed that the pair were involved in a ‘furious bust-up’ yesterday morning, ending in Carroll being sent home early and Moyes seeking to formally discipline the striker:

As far as links to Newcastle go, they were inevitable, reemerging this morning after claims that Carroll could now be sold by the Hammers this summer.

It always felt like he could return to Tyneside one day, but as time goes on and injuries continue to cripple his career, it feels less and less likely to happen.

He’s 29, has recently missed four months after ANOTHER ankle injury and has managed just 14 appearances this season as a result.

A part of me would like to see him back, but in reality he could be another expensive mistake. This response below from NUFC fans probably sums up my thoughts on that matter:

Would you take him back?!

  1. Only if he comes on a free and maybe even pay per play.
The Chuckle brothers have been trying to offload AC for a few years now, and no one is willing to pay the fee and match his salary.
AC himself would walk back to the Toon to sign on, but would deffo need to take a huge pay cut to make it happen.

  3. Rafa and his back room staff have managed to reduce our sick list to a fraction of what it has been in the recent past. Could they work their magic with wor Andy. He’d certainly give us more options and is proven PL quality. Small fee with add-ons when he plays sufficient games. At the right price I’d be glad to see him back at SJP.

  4. He’s never really lived up to the promise he showed when with us and has never gone on to grow into a real game-changer; was almost permanently crocked for a very long time with no really positive signs he is over his injury worries; has always had an attitude problem causing massive issues last time with us and every where else he’s ever played – why would that suddenly change? Plus, he is on ridiculous wages and would cost more than we would get for Mitro, whether permanent or on loan – haven’t we just had our fingers burnt with Slimani.
Andy Carroll to return – NO! Mono-dimensional and under performing, unreliable and unstable, temperamental and uncommitted, over-hyped and over-priced. So much better for Rafa to chose from.
