The Barcelona outcast Benitez could bring to NUFC this summer – £17m release clause confirmed

With the season almost over and the summer transfer window fast approaching, Rafa Benitez’s attentions will soon turn to bringing in some quality additions in at Newcastle – and Barcelona outcast Gerard Deulofeu could be one of them.

The Spaniard is currently on loan at Watford, and while they may look at making his move permanent in the summer, the 24-year-old talent is a player Rafa Benitez could well look at – especially if we fail to get Kenedy back from Chelsea.

It’s been revealed that he has a £17m (€20m) buy-out clause with the Catalans, but he has admitted recently that he will not be returning to the Nou Camp this summer, so they may be willing to accept a lower offer to get him off their books.

His career has stuttered a little in the last few years after spells with AC Milan, Barcelona and Watford, but he is a player that often impressed me when he was given a run in Everton’s team a few years ago.

He got 4 goals and 13 assists in the 2015/16 season and is a player who could add real pace and quality to our side. He’d have to improve his fitness and defensive work if he was to work under Rafa Benitez, but I’m quite sure the Spaniard could get the best out of him.

After enquiring about him last year, maybe he’s a player Rafa will return for this summer?
