After failing with moves to sign the striker over the last two transfer windows, Turkish outlet Milliyet claim we are preparing a ‘very attractive’ offer for Galatasaray star Garry Rodrigues – suggesting a bid in the region of £20m is being lined up by NUFC.
He’s a player we appear to have scouted as much as anyone over the past 6 months, however I’m really struggling to see how this could be true.
It’s quite clear we hold interest in the winger – who has shone this season with 10 goals and 11 assists – but a club record move for him doesn’t seem to add up..
1 – He turns 28 this year.
2- He’s not proven in any of the top European leagues and has only really come to any real form over the past two years.
3 – Why would we be offering this sort of figure for Rodrigues when Kenedy *could* be available for £20m.
4 – According to reports, our failed bids last summer and in January were £6m and £7m – it’s not like us (Ashley) to suddenly treble that.
5 – I don’t think Rafa even knows his budget or where he’ll be next season. Not sure we’ve committed to making bids yet..
#NUFC are ready to offer €23M for Galatasaray winger Garry Rodrigues.

You get the picture. He’s definitely one to watch but I really can’t see us spending this sort of money on an unproven winger in his late twenties.
