Last night it emerged that Jonjo Shelvey will NOT be included in England’s squad due to doubts over his ‘discipline and temperament’ and Newcastle have responded in perfect fashion – sending a reminder to Southgate that he hasn’t been booked all year!
Yep, that’s right – they claim he still can’t be trusted and has issues with his discipline, yet the last time he was in the referee’s notebook was during a home defeat to Everton on December 13th.
Yes he’s been a hot-head and loose cannon in the past, but this is proof that his discipline has improved considerably (and you can see that if you watch just how measured he’s become both on and off the ball) and also proof that those at England have clearly made no effort to track his progress in that respect – despite him being ending the season the most in-form English midfielder.
Here’s the club’s brilliant reaction to claims that he’s ‘not even being considered’ by Southgate due to these imaginary ‘disciplinary issue’:
? Did you know…

Brilliant from the club’s official Twitter account, but it doesn’t change the fact Jonjo looks set to be robbed of a place on that plane.
Oh well. Same old England really. They’ll pick the likes of Livermore – who’s been anything but disciplined over the past 6 months – and Wilshere instead, favouring out of form players and crocks opposed to genuine English talents.
Our gain and their loss.
Hope they get fucking hammered.
