Gareth Southgate has named the 23-man squad he will be taking to the World Cup in Russia next month and, surprise surprise, there’s no room for either Jonjo Shelvey or Jamaal Lascelles – and neither have been put on standby either.
For Shelvey, the likes of Eric Dier, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Jordan Henderson and Fabian Delph (who’s played at left-back all season) have all been picked ahead of him in midfield, while Gary Cahill, Harry MaguIre, John Stones and Phil Jones have beaten Lascelles to it in defence.
The worst part is, Tom Heaton, Lewis Cook, Jake Livermore, Adam Lallana & James Tarkowski are the players on standby – so both have been overlooked in that respect too (how Livermore is in over here over Shelvey I’ll never know!).
Here’s the full squad:
Goalkeepers – Butland, Pickford, Pope.
Defenders – Walker, Trippier, A-Arnold – Stones, Cahill Jones Maguire- Young, Rose.
Midfielders – Dier, Delph, Henderson, Loftus-Cheek – Lingard, Alli, Sterling
Forwards – Kane, Rashford, Vardy, Welbeck.

So, Fabian Delph – a player who’s played at left-back all season – is in ahead of Shelvey in midfield.
Good luck to us this summer – we’ll need it!
Disgusting , Cahill , Delph ,Dier , wellbeck , but no place for shelvey or lascelles , southgate your a joke of a manager , how you got the England job in first place beggars belief , all the failures you’ve had
