Martin Dubravka reveals what’s holding up his permanent move to NUFC – This says it all

Martin Dubravka has admitted that his permanent move to Newcastle ‘depends on Rafa Benitez’ – suggesting that recent uncertainty over the Spaniard’s future has stopped a deal from being finalised.

It emerged earlier this week that Rafa WILL stay next season, meaning a deal for Dubravka should be wrapped up soon as a result, but this just shows why the club were foolish to allow talks to drag.

The Slovakian admits that he still feels the chances of him signing are ‘high’, however it sounds like everything had been put on hold until the club and our players knew where Benitez would be next season.

Here’s what he had to say when speaking to Sport.SK about his current situation:

“My loan lasts until May 31st. By then everything should be sorted. Everything should be based on whether or not the coach Rafael Benitez will stay or go.

“All possible transfers will begin after this at the club. This week will show whether Rafael Benitez will remain. And then we’ll see how my situation develops.

“The people from the club told me they were happy and would like me to stay. As I said, everything depends on Rafael Benitez. I firmly believe my chance is high. Over the next few days, it will definitely be sorted.”

This says it all really. We don’t move quick enough – but thankfully even we won’t let this one slip.

He’s been absolutely fantastic since he arrived on loan in January and a £4m deal seems an absolute snip.

Let’s hope we get this one wrapped up ASAP so we can switch our attentions to signing Kenedy and that proven striker we’ve lacked for so long at this level.

They, unlike the Dubravka signing, are two deals that won’t be easy – so let’s give ourselves the best chance of them done.
