According to German newspaper ‘Hamburger Morgenpost’, highly-rated defender Josha Vagnoman has received ‘very attractive’ offer to join Newcastle United this summer – however he looks set to turn it down.
The story claims that the 17-year-old has been tracked by Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea recently, but claim that Newcastle have offered him a salary of €5.3m (£4.6m) over three years – a hefty pay packet for a player of his age.
Vagnoman has been capped by Germany at U-17 and U-18 level and is rated as one of the best young prospects in German football, so it seems the club have made big attempts to snap him up (probably because Mike Ashley sees pound signs and re-sale potential!)
That being said, the paper claims that he could be set to turn down the offer, with him preferring to play week in week out with Hamburg – perhaps a smart choice given he’d probably be placed into our slightly uninspiring U-23 set up if he signed.
Newcastle United said to have made concrete offer to HSV's Josha Vagnoman, but the youngster is, perhaps sensibly, focusing on staying where he is.https://t.co/o4tfNZpDCR #nufc pic.twitter.com/NE1ZjOqvwU

It’s good to see us aim to bring in top young talent to Tyneside, but first we might want to start showing ambition when it comes to senior signings.
