Right-back admits he’s ‘flattered’ after interest from NUFC – Rafa’s DeAndre Yedlin replacement?

Italian international Lorenzo De Silvestri has admitted that it is ‘a pleasure’ to know that there’s interest from the Premier League after being asked about recent rumours linking him with a move to NUFC.

Italian press claimed ourselves and Leicester held an interest in the 30-year-old just a few weeks ago, and it seems like there might be something in it, with the Chronicle admitting today that the Torino right-back is someone NUFC have watched on ‘several occasions’.

Here’s what he said to GOAL when asked about the alleged interest from Newcastle United:

“I had a great season at Torino and I am glad to see that people have noticed.

“I’m very happy at my club but it’s always a pleasure to know that there could be interest from the Premier League.”

With it being made clear recently that Rafa Benitez wants another right-back to give DeAndre Yedlin some much needed competition, might this be his man?

For a bit more information on the player himself, he stands 6ft 1′ – so is a big unit as full-backs go – however he’s a player who likes to get forward too – having bagged 7 goals and 4 assists from right-back during Torino’s 9th place finish in Serie A last season. He’s also been capped six times by Italy.

One to watch this summer perhaps..
