NUFC’s official sponsors mock Sunderland with genius post on social media – Brilliant

Newcastle United’s sponsors FUN88 have been at it again on social media, responding in priceless fashion to news of Chris Coleman’s appointment at Hebei China Fortune – reminding Sunderland fans of the time Burton relegated them to League One!

Here’s their brilliant tweet in reaction to confirmation of the ex-Sunderland boss’ appointment at the Chinese Super League side:

“Chris Coleman appointed manager of Chinese club Hebei China Fortune.

“That Chinese writing translates to something about Burton Albion according to one of the lads in our office..”

If the moment Burton relegated the Mackems to the third tier wasn’t hard enough for them to take at the time, it’s nice to see our sponsors couldn’t resist sending them yet another reminder!

It’s fair to say NUFC fans enjoyed it:

To make it worse, even Ed Sheeran had a little pop during his performances inside St James’ Park over the weekend, saying:

“For the second night in a row you have been a Premier League crowd, which is more than can be said for that little town down the road!”

  3. Does FUN88 translate as WONGA in Chinese ? When it comes to sponsorship, that was one sorry period for NUFC. Absolutely disgraceful to utilise a company like that , who would prey upon their own working class support at every given opportunity.
