According to the latest claims from Spain, Mikel Merino will ask his any new club to insert a €60m release clause in his contract to give himself a chance of ‘earning a move to an even bigger club’.
Spanish outlet AS claim that the Spaniard has now asked to leave Newcastle – and it sounds like we may be willing to cash in (£13m asking price reported today), with Real Sociedad and Real Betis believed to be in talks to sign him.
Back to Merino’s demands and I don’t know about you but I’d be a little frustrated if an incoming player was immediately asking for a clause in his contract so he can secure a bigger and better move.
Fair play if he’s simply showing ambition, but it smacks of him seeing any potential new club as nothing more than a stepping stone. We know how that feels and it’s not nice.
Also, he’s a talent but
Personally, I’d like to keep him at the club in an ideal world. He’s a real talent and someone who we all had high hopes for just a few months ago, however there’s no point holding onto a player who doesn’t want to be to here.
What I will say is we’d be silly not to insert a sell on clause agreed. These Spanish sides (Bilbao, Betis and Real Sociedad) all seem extremely keen to sign him, so let’s make take advantage of that.
If true then he really thinks he has already “arrived” , Well someone needs too tell him too secure a starting place in a first team for a couple of full seasons running . He has not been an automatic first choice at any club yet . Yeah he has potential but needs too learn a lot more yet . Im getting the feeling he is a bit of a big headed ***** that has no bottle too fight for a place in the team .

Surely any club buying him for say 15 million would love to put a 60 million clause in.
Why are people so ante about that? He’s trying to avoid ending up on the bench again, with no way out. Fair play to the kid. If he’s that good, why not?

When it comes concrete from Rafa and he wants him to go I will believe it.

j]if that’s the case regarding the release clause then why don’t we insist on having a sell on fee inserted aswell we may aswell also make a bit more money should he move on
