NUFC working on deals to sign attacking trio – Two strikers & Everton winger on loan – Report

According to the Daily Mail’s Simon Jones, Rafa Benitez wants to sign West Brom’s Salomon Rondon, Japanese international striker Yoshinori Muto and Everton winger Nikola Vlasic on loan.

It sounds ambitious given our lack fo spending so far, however there’s hope that some money may now be released with Mitrovic and Mbemba set to earn us over £25m ahead of ‘imminent’ moves to Fulham and Porto respectively.

Not only that, we also received £10m for Merino just last week, so there should be money there to spend soon enough – although logic fairly plays much of a part when Mike Ashley is concerned!

Rondon is clearly a target of Rafa’s – and it’s hoped we’ll activate his £16.5m release clause once the Mitrovic deal goes through – however Mainz striker Muto is a name slightly more out of the blue. A loan deal for Everton’s Vlasic would also be slightly left field.

Here’s a snippet from the Mail’s latest piece on the deals Benitez is looking to do as a result of Mitrovic’s imminent sale:

“Newcastle want Salomon Rondon from West Brom and Yoshinori Muto of Mainz.

“They have also discussed a potential loan for Everton’s Nikola Vlasic.”

Vlasic on a temporary basis seems a cheap and realistic deal, being a promising talent Everton would probably benefit from loaning out – although I’m not sure another winger will actually be a priority?

With Muto valued at around £14m according to German press and Rondon set to cost £16.5m, it seems ambitious to believe we’d sign both – however it’s about time we started spending.

After all, the club took in £123m last season after a year back in the top flight, we’ve just received the latest instalment of Premier League cash (said to around £40-50m) and player sales look set to raise a further £35 plus once Merino, Mbemba and Mitrovic’s sales are taken into account.

Fingers crossed folks – I’ll take anyone who’s a slight upgrade on our current options at this stage.
