It’s official folks. The game’s gone. Some breaking news from Sky Sports has just confirmed that Everton look set to seal a £50m deal to sign Watford’s Richarlison – the 21-year-old winger who enjoyed a promising debut season in the Premier League last year.
Now, don’t get me wrong folks, he’s an exciting young talent and someone I expect to do very well at Everton, but £50m!? Give me a break.

If this is now the going rate for a promising 21-year-old Brazilian winger who’s looked good for half a season in the Premier League (went totally off the boil in 2018), then just how much is Kenedy actually worth?
Put it this way, he’d be looking an absolute snip if we’d decided to give Chelsea the likely £20-£25m they were demanding to make his move a permanent one this summer.
I’d love to say it doesn’t impact us, but it probably does. These are the sort of deals which make every single club’s head turn during the transfer window. It’s almost certain to have a knock on effect.
An example – Crystal Palace were said to have valued Andros Townsend at £17m this summer. Is he really a third of the player Richarlison is? No way, and Palace would probably take this into consideration and decide to add another £10m to his price tag after catching wind of deals like this.
In a world where prices are only going up and Ashley’s ambition is only going down, this really doesn’t bode well for NUFC – or our attempts to potentially sign Kenedy on a permanent deal next summer.
God forbid how much he’ll be ‘worth’ if he has a good season.
What on earth?! ??
I don't know how much #CFC actually wanted for Kenedy this summer, but £20-£25m would seem an absolute SNIP if this is anything to go by.
Unbelievable. #efc #watfordfc #nufc https://t.co/rRwHP0LwHo
