Major plans to get Mike Ashley out of NUFC now gathering real momentum – @IfRafaGoesWeGo

By Luke Andersen

With the transfer window coming to a close at the end of the month – and as of yet Newcastle having very little to show in terms of major player investment there was always going to be unrest amongst fans.

But given that all signs point to a stubborn purse-tightening exercise by Mike Ashley – using Rafa’s contract situation as an excuse – the fans unrest seems to have boiled over.

In the past decade we’ve seen demonstrations against Ashley outside the ground, a mass call for Pardew to be given his marching orders with the PardewOut brigade, and countless calls for fans to make a stand together under a common goal.

The #IfRafaGoesWeGo group only formed on Thursday  night (19th) in response to recent events but have quickly gathered a following of over 12,000 on Twitter along with interest around other social media platforms.

Their goal is to bring about mass demonstrations of disapproval in an around the ground and against Sports direct whilst also calling for support in creating a web site and in creating flyers, banners and flags. The following petition is also live to get the ball rolling:

A lot of fans will claim to have seen it all before, and that protests and demonstrations will do nothing to deter Mike Ashley and his wicked way with Newcastle, but no one ever accomplished anything in doing nothing, and if a real push of support can be found for this new movement then at least an increased level in media coverage could see some results this time around.

The group have already been in contact with Pete Graves of Sky Sports in an effort to bring some national coverage their way, so let’s hope that some real exposure thanks to Sky will soon be forthcoming.

Whether you’re in full Support of the campaign or not it’s surely worth seeing if a change for the better can be brought about.

  1. Let’s all get behind this and get Ashley out once and for all , he’s a cancer , an asset stripper , and his creative accounts need going over with a fine tooth comb ,we will never get anywhere as long as he’s here

  3. Major plan gathering real momentum?

It doesn’t really do any good to over-hype these things.

This is just another version of NUST trying to do the same things that failed last time.

If there was any unity those supporting the new campaign would have just joined up with NUST, an established organization.

Of the 12,000 followers how many are season ticket holders? Of them how many are willing to buy a ticket and then boycott the match? Because empty seats is the only measure of success. If you just don’t bother buying the tickets someone else will and the seats will be full.

I look forward to more demonstrations of a couple of hundred kids just doing what dad tells them to.

  4. Are you really suggesting that the major plans to get Ashley out of NUFC involve going to the media and asking them to try and bully him out by making him accept a reduced offer for the club ?.
    Good luck with that.
The only way Ashley leaves is when he is given the price he demands to sell the club.

  5. I great cause but doomed to failure I regret to say.
The only way to get rid of Ashley is a takeover.
He does not care about the club, the manager or the fans. All he cares about is money.
