According to The Chronicle’s Lee Ryder, Yoshinori Muto has now agreed terms with Newcastle United and passed his medical – with the club now only needing confirmation of his work permit in order to announce his £9.5m arrival.
His current club (Mainz) confirmed yesterday that the two clubs had reached an agreement, with him also being pictured on a flight from Tokyo yesterday morning (presumably showing him on his way to complete a medical).
With no update on the deal prior to this one today, this comes as reassuring news from Lee Ryder, who confirms that he’s now agreed terms and passed a medical – meaning he’ll become a Newcastle United player once his work permit is granted.

Muto has scored 20 goals and bagged 10 assists across the last three seasons in the Bundesliga and looks all set to become our fifth signing of the summer after Dubravka, Ki, Kenedy and Schar.
