Everton back in for Jamaal Lascelles? – A deal that would tip NUFC fans over the edge

According to The Guardian’s Ed Aarons, Everton are now interested in signing Newcastle United skipper Jamaal Lascelles.

It goes without saying, but this is a deal we simply cannot afford to even consider.

He’s the heartbeat of our squad, our leader at the back, our most consistent player and someone we should not consider selling at ANY price – especially given the recent injury to Florian Lejeune.

In our defence, it’s been made clear on several occasions this summer that he is NOT for sale, however there’s always that lingering doubt that Mike Ashley would do a deal above Rafa’s head if a club came in with stupid money (see £35m Andy Carroll deal).

Here’s what The Guardian’s Ed Aarons has tweeted in the last few moments, confirming Everton’s interest.

Incase you’re worried, here’s what Lascelles said back in May when asked about a potential move away this summer:

“This is the happiest I’ve been.

“I’m playing week in, week out. And I’m the captain here, the fans love me, and I’ve got a good relationship with them because I love them.”

I really can’t see it happening – even if this is a club that will happily spend in excess of £40m on the likes of Richarlison – but for as long as Ashley’s here I will NEVER be at ease.

  1. Carroll said. “I wasn’t wanted by them and they made it clear they wanted the money.
